I knew during the summer that I didn’t want to do normal tent camping with 2 small kids because air mattresses aren’t really ideal for me nor is sleeping on the ground. I am constantly being woken up by my 1-year-old through the night already; add tossing and turning into the mix because the air mattress is uncomfortable and I get a nightmare that I didn’t want to endure.
So I decided to look into cabins and stumbled upon the Getaway.house which had “tiny home” options that were about a 2-hour drive from Portland. This specific location is near Mount Adams in Glenwood, WA and it was just the perfect environment to escape from everyday city life, so I knew we needed to stay a couple of nights to get some “glamping” in.
Winter in Portland. With the wrong attitude, it can be a dreary time, full of rain, sleet, and generally crummy weather. But winter is also an opportunity for residents of Portland to get out and try something new, to explore their beautiful state in unique ways. All it takes is the right attitude.
Portland might be famous for its restaurants, book stores, and coffee shops, but the city also happens to be located in the middle of a recreational hub, with plenty of opportunities to play outside all year round. So here’s our list of greatest winter hits around Portland.
I haven’t been a coffee drinker for long. Once I had Arya in 2015, I became dependent on it to get me throughout the day, because you know, lack of sleep from having a newborn and all. At one point, coffee made me feel sick when I’d try it before all of that. I guess I finally built enough tolerance over time to where it no longer affects me anymore and instead gives me the energy to stay awake to take care of the kiddos.
When Mom’s Meet offered to send me the Keurig K-Duo Essentials Coffee Maker, I, of course, jumped on the opportunity. These are my thoughts and they were not influenced in any way.
Since my husband had a couple of solo trips planned during summer, I decided we needed to do a summer beach trip with the kiddos while the weather is actually nice. We ended up deciding on Long Beach, WA even though I love Oregon beaches more for the scenery. And I haven’t been to Long Beach in over 10 years, so it had been long overdue.
We ended up booking our stay with Best Western and although it was right next door to everything on the main strip, I probably won’t stay again because our bed was broken and they did nothing to fix the problem and we paid over $500 to stay there. Definitely a convenient location though.
