Cool Recipe Friday: Orange Peel Jello-Shots

Cool Recipe Friday: Orange Peel Jello-Shots
I think I am going to start doing a neat recipe to share with all of you on Fridays, when days are slow or unproductive for me. This one I found on Facebook by friends and I plan on making this the next time we have a shindig or are invited to one. Unfortunately, it’s going to take a lot of orange killing to provide such beauty, but I can always bag the remains and stick them in the freezer and eat at a later date.

Orange Peel Jello-Shots: Cut an orange in half and gut it. Mix the jello shot (1 cup of hot water, 1 box of jello and 1 cup of liquor of your choice [e.g. rum, vodka, gin, whiskey]) and stir until dissolved. Then add the jello mix to the half-shell and refrigerate for 3 or more hours. Once solid, slice and serve!

Repeat this process for each orange.

Week 10 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Blogger Program: 20lbs Down!

Today is week 10 on Nutrisystem and I must inform anyone who wants to get started on Nutrisystem that you may have digestive issues. Half of the meals are dehydrated, and my stomach has finally toned down on the gas and the really bad bowel movements that were extremely painful. I am not sure if it’s because of the food or if it was something else but it lasted about a month. I think I have finally gotten used to consuming the food, so everything is in good working order. Now, just because I have had these issues, does not necessarily mean you will. Everyone’s body is different, but I figured I should probably give a heads up if you wanted to try this as a weight loss resort.

So far I have lost 17.5lbs the past 9 weeks. And this week I am down to 210.8, which brings me to my total of 20lbs lost. I am excited that I have reached 20lbs, I just hope I can get down another 10lbs in the next month!

Week 9 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Blogger Program

I can’t believe 9 weeks have come and gone by already! Where does the time go?
I blame the low .7lb loss on St. Patrick’s Day. I had to go out and celebrate the “let’s go out and get drunk day even if you’re not Irish.” Although I am, so it’s more fun for me. I had quite a few alcohol beverages, so I was surprised I still lost ounces.
Thanks to Nutrisystem, I can go out, have fun, and still lose weight — even if it’s just a little bit.
Every little bit counts towards that higher goal, which is about 23.3 more pounds. Although, I’d like to lose about 10 more after that, so I will continue to push myself towards that extra goal.
Starting Weight: 5’11” @ 230.8

Week 8 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Blogger Program

I know a promised good results once I got my elliptical, but that didn’t seem to happen, because I keep going up and down in weight. I am not sure if it’s because I am gaining muscle, and muscle is more dense and compact resulting in a higher weight than fat or if it’s just my weekly go out and have dinner days. I don’t usually order anything that is going to hinder my weight loss, but the scale usually says different. Ultimately, I know what is true and what it isn’t since I am not consuming 4,000 calories a day in order to gain a real pound.

So far, Nutrisystem has been a life saver. I don’t think I would have the willpower and strength to keep doing this if I wasn’t already seeing results. Their easy compact, ready to stick in the oven/microwave meals have made it easier to maintain this lifestyle on a such a busy schedule.

Here’s hoping that next week is better.

Week 7 on Nutrisystem #NSNation Program – 15.6lb lost!

At the beginning of week 7, I was down to a 16.2 lb loss, but I seem to fluctuate between a lb almost everyday, so I am not really surprised that it ended up being less at 15.6lbs for the week.

The good thing is, I finally found an elliptical at Sports Authority, since I had an extra 20% off coupon on Saturday. Then I noticed that the same exact elliptical we bought was on sale the next day on Amazon for the same price we paid. Was just a funny coincidence that the Schwinn 450 was the deal of the day. And honestly, at $640, it was a steal! It’s the best one that we have found regarding sturdiness, quality, and comfortable stride length without going digital. We did not one that had an auto adjustable incline, since that meant it could break down electronically and we would be screwed. This one is manually adjusted with a handlebar. Not that difficult really.

I just started exercising on it yesterday, so I won’t know if this is going to kick-start my weight loss results with Nutrisystem until next week. I am hoping I lose twice as much, but only time will tell. My calves are pretty sore today, and will probably be worse tomorrow since I hopped on it this morning for 15 minutes. Any longer than that right now, and I feel like I am going to pass out.

Starting Weight: 5’11” @ 230.8
Current Weight: 215.2
Week 1 Loss: 6.4lbs
Week 2 Loss: 1.8lbs
Week 3 Loss: 1.4lbs
Week 4 Loss: 1.6lbs
Week 5 Loss: 1.4lbs
Week 6 Loss: 1.6lbs
Week 7 Loss: 1.2lbs
Total Loss: 15.6 lbs
