How to Save Money at Great Wolf Lodge: 7 Insider Tips for Budget-Friendly Family Trips

Great Wolf Lodge is a favorite Pacific Northwest family getaway thanks to its huge indoor water park, themed rooms, and endless kid-friendly activities. But a trip here can get expensive fast—especially for families. After many stays at the Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound, WA location, I’ve learned the best ways to save money without sacrificing any fun.

Below are my top, tried-and-true Great Wolf Lodge money-saving tips. These methods are based on real experience and can help you cut your trip cost dramatically.

1. Sign Up for Online Deals & Exclusive Offers

Before booking, sign up for the Great Wolf Lodge newsletter and follow their official social media pages. They regularly release promo codes, limited-time sales, seasonal specials, and flash deals that can save you up to 50% off your stay.

Make sure to check their Deals Page often—many of their best offers don’t appear on the regular booking screen.

2. Get a $50 Credit Using My Referral Link

Create a new Great Wolf Lodge account through my referral link and you’ll receive a $50 hotel credit to use during your stay. This stacks with most discounts and promotions. If it doesn’t go through, leave your email in a comment and I will send it that way. It has to be an email that does not have an account associated with the Great Wolf Lodge.

When you sign up for their Voyager Club, you also earn reward points from purchases charged to your room, which can be applied toward future trips. If the link doesn’t send the $50 automatically, leave your email in the comments and I can send it directly.

3. Avoid Weekends & Holidays

Room prices vary drastically depending on demand. Weekends, holidays, and school breaks are the most expensive and crowded times to visit.

To save money:

  • Travel Monday–Thursday

  • Choose off-season dates

  • Avoid long weekends and major breaks

You’ll also enjoy shorter lines, more space in the water park, and a quieter atmosphere.

4. Consider a Day Pass Instead of an Overnight Stay

If you’re local or already staying elsewhere, a Great Wolf Lodge Day Pass is a great budget-friendly option. You still get full access to:

  • The indoor water park

  • Towels

  • Life jackets

  • Parking

Prices typically start at $50+ for full-day and $40+ for half-day passes. This is a huge savings if you don’t need a room.

5. Bring Your Own Food and Snacks

Food inside the resort can add up quickly. To save:

  • Bring snacks, drinks, and simple meals

  • Store them in your room’s mini-fridge or a cooler

  • Use the microwave (available at Grand Mound) to heat meals

Some Great Wolf Lodge locations have kitchenettes, though Grand Mound does not. Regardless, bringing your own food can easily save over $100 per day.

6. Book Early & Re-Check Prices Frequently

One of the best hidden savings tricks is to reserve your room early using promo code ESAVER, which is available when you book 90+ days in advance.

Even after booking, keep checking the website for better rates. If the price drops:

  • Contact Guest Services

  • Or use online chat

  • They will adjust your reservation to the lower price

This works unlimited times up to one week before your stay. I’ve had trips drop by $20–$100+ just by checking back.

7. Ask for Your Free Wolf Ears

Most people don’t know this—but each child gets a free pair of wolf ears. Just stop by the gift shop and ask! It’s a cute souvenir that saves you from buying extras.

Final Thoughts

With a little planning and the right strategies, a Great Wolf Lodge trip doesn’t have to break the bank. These money-saving tips have helped my family enjoy multiple fun and affordable stays at the Grand Mound, WA location.
