Desert Essence Probiotic Hand Sanitizer: Kill Germs & Proctect Microbes

I love Desert Essence hair products because they contain non-chemical ingredients, so I knew I needed to try out the Desert Essence Probiotic Hand Sanitizer line for those days when a sink isn’t readily available. For instance, when I need to change a diaper in the back of the car.

I received free product from Moms Meet to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

I normally don’t use hand sanitizers for the simple fact that most are alcohol-based. Alcohol kills the bad germs, but it also kills the good germs and killing the good germs is obviously not good for the microbiome. Hand sanitizer should be used sparingly for that reason.

The Desert Essence Probiotic Hand Sanitizer kills 99.99% of germs while delivering good bacteria courtesy of the probiotic-packed Kefir, which nourishes and conditions the skin. It creates a “membrane” around the probiotic to protect it from the antibacterial formula. Probiotic benefits are delivered after the sanitizer activity completes. This means the sanitizer doesn’t kill the probiotic, and the probiotic doesn’t neutralize the sanitizer. The bad bacteria is eliminated, and the probiotic thrives! Win-win!

They are vailable in three pure, botanical-infused formulas, including cleansing Tea Tree Oil, invigorating Tea Tree Oil & Lemongrass and calming Tea Tree Oil & Lavender. They also come in mini versions for travel. I stuck one in a slicone carrier and looped it to my purse/diaper bag for convenience.

I love the smell of all of them, but my fave is the tea tree oil and lemongrass.

These hand sanitizers actually make my hands feel refreshed and not dried out. Even though there is 75% alcohol in these, the probiotics do a good job in providing a barrier from the harsh alcohol. I feel like since they contain tea tree oil which kills germs and fungus, the alcohol isn’t really needed. But, I don’t know a thing about making hand sanitizer, but I do know that Desert Essence does not contain:
