6 Great Gifts for Mom at Best Buy!

6 Great Gifts for Mom at Best Buy!

Mother’s day is almost here! Have you thought about what you’re getting for mom for her special day? Although I think moms should be loved and adored everyday of the year, it’s always nice to know that you’re appreciated on at least one.

Mother’s Day happens to fall on May 11th this year, so you still have a couple weeks to find a gift if you haven’t already. And I decided to put together 6 Great Gift Ideas for Mom at Best Buy that all types of moms would probably enjoy.

1.) Keurig Elite Single Serve Brewer (On the Go Mom):

I absolutely love my Keurig. It’s nice to have a single serve brewer that you can stick in a thermal cup and then head out the door with.  The best part is, you’re not wasting coffee, which means you’re saving money comparative to the the 12 cup brewers.

2.) Floor Mopping iRobot (Busy Mom):

If I had tons of wood/laminate/tile floor, I’d probably have this on my list of must haves for those times I don’t always have time to mop. I mean, who wouldn’t want their own personal robot slave?

3.) KitchenAid Ultra Power-Tilt Head Stand Mixer (Foodie Mom):

Although I don’t enjoy cooking too much, I think if I had one of these bad boys, I’d probably be more inclined to love cooking/baking for my family. Most of the time I am dealing with a hand mixer, which is annoying because it doesn’t always do or work the way I want it to. This would probably alleviate some of my cooking problems. One day you shall be mine KitchenAid Stand Mixer!

4.) Ninja Professional Blender (Entertainer Mom):

This is one of those things I absolutely feel is a must have when you have parties, BBQ’s or just random visitors. You can make delicious margaritas, soups, appetizers and much much more with this awesome blender! I can’t wait to use mine more this summer. I envision a lot of boozy slushies this summer.

5.) Samsung Gear 2 Smart Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (Fitness Mom):

This is one of those things that I feel like is a cool thing to have, especially if you take fitness serious and don’t like packing your phone around with you while you’re being active. Track your heart rate, take photos or videos that automatically get sent to your phone once you sync it, use blue tooth for calls, play music, watch videos and more. I don’t think it gets any better or easier than this!

6.) Samsung Galaxy Tab 4:  Tech Mom

I honestly don’t know what I would do without my tablet. I take this with me practically anywhere, everywhere cause wifi is the norm nowadays, which is nice, so I can stay up to date with the business aspect of this blog, social media, and family. I probably carry this thing around with me more than I do my phone, which is kind of sad. LOL

If none of these ideas work for you or have caught your eye, then check out the latest for the greatest mom in the Best Buy Gift Center that have a low-price guarantee and free shipping with qualified purchase . 🙂

Can Getting Older Get Any Worse?

I feel like I am falling apart over here…

When we got back from Mazatlan, Mexico last month, I started experiencing unusual throbbing pains in the ovary area on the 17th. I didn’t really think anything of it until it continued all throughout the day for the next couple of days, followed by light spotting for 4 days, sharp pain throughout the breasts, fiery nipples and extreme fatigue, so I started searching over symptoms online. Everything was leaning towards pregnancy. So a friend of mine brought over some dollar store tests and I took one of those which said not pregnant. I figured maybe it was too early to tell since it had only been a week. I then waited until the day my period was supposed to come and took a test then and it was negative. About 20 minutes later, AF arrived, so all of these weird symptoms I was experiencing left me completely dumbfounded.

I decided I should get a doctors appointment made because these occurrences are not normal for me. Although it’s been over a month since I’ve experienced that pain and those symptoms, I still get it, just not as bad or as frequently. My next doctor appointment is this Wednesday, and I’m getting a complete pap smear and some tests ran. I am hoping it’s nothing major, but I can’t help but think of the worst. As I type this, it’s pulsating in my right ovary, so I hope it’s just a benign cyst or something and not uterine/ovarian cancer. My grandma had it in her 20s, so that’s always a thought that crosses my mind.

ovary pain

And my sciatic nerve is giving me issues again. Not as bad as the first time, but enough that I had to be couch bound for a full day. I got an oxy from my step-dad which helped his back problem, but it did not resolve my pain and left me feeling extremely nauseous. Never again will I take that crap! I would rather deal with the pain than feel like I am going to vomit all day long. The only thing that helped alleviate my sciatic nerve pain in my lower back is a heat pack and stretching. It hurts to stretch but it helps, trust me! I feel like its worse when I’m sitting in the upright position, and it goes all the way down my leg into my feet. My foot feels like its on fire right now. If I have my leg bent at all, I get that sensation.

and to top it off, I have a swollen, impacted wisdom tooth. Thankfully, I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning to get that looked at and hopefully will be getting it out in the next couple of weeks so I don’t have to deal with it anymore.

So as my original question says, can getting older get any worse?

Probably so…

Not looking forward to it, that’s for sure!

My Review:

Upon arrival at Inn at Nye Beach, we immediately noticed the small parking garage, which consists of about 11 spaces give or take. It takes tricky maneuvering getting in and out of there, but don’t most parking garages? I highly recommend parking on the street in front of the hotel or in one of the 5 spots inside the parking area that isn’t connected to the parking garage if they’re available. An SUV or a truck WILL NOT work in the garage.

After we finished parking, we headed toward the front of the building to find the check-in office, which is located on the far left where the outside seating area is. I liked that they had that little area, but I think it would be nice to something like that in the back of the hotel, so you get nice views of the ocean while you’re relaxing and conversing with your friends or loved ones.

Check-in was an absolute breeze. Chelsea asked if I was the one doing the blog post, and then she took our credit card for potential incidentals, gave us our room key and off we went.

When I previously talked to the manager of the hotel, I was told I was getting a Deluxe King Fireplace Studio comped room, and much to our surprise, we were put in a 1 bedroom king suite. I wasn’t expecting such a big room, so that was nice of him.

The first thing we did was check out the bed. Super comfy, not firm, not too plush, just right to satisfy both my husband and my wants. He likes beds more firm, and I like mine plusher. So it was a great middle ground for both of us.

I was completely awed by the bathroom. It’s really nice and has ample space for 2 people to move around and take care of business.  Everything has been updated in here and it looks nice. The colors are definitely beachy feeling.

I loved the rain style shower head. It had great water pressure and felt relaxing. I’ve noticed in some hotels that water pressure is not always created equal. It sucks having to stay in there for an extra hour because you can’t get the conditioner out of your hair. So that was a plus! I also loved the fact that they had a soap dispenser inside of the shower. I brought my own hygiene products, but if I had known they had this installed, I probably would have left my stuff at home.

The tub and everything in the bathroom was clean. I used to work in housekeeping in a hotel before so I notice these things. If I see one little hair, I know it’s not cleaned good enough, and I didn’t see that here thankfully.

The sitting area was great, but we didn’t really use it much until the last night since we were off visiting family most of our stay. I did put the fireplace on and watched a bit of TV before bed, which was relaxing.

The following morning, I decided I was going to order breakfast in since they don’t have a breakfast room or an on-site restaurant. (would love to see either of those added in the future). Inn at Nye provides an in-room menu for Cafe Stephanie where you can order your breakfast directly to your room without paying a delivery charge. The choices were limited, but we both found something we liked. It only took about 10-15 minutes after we called for it to arrive at our room, which was prompt service if I say so myself.

The King Suite room has a small kitchen area with a sink, a small microwave, small fridge, a french press, mugs, water glasses, wine glasses, wine bottle opener, ice bucket, plates, silverware, etc.

Upon check-in, they ask if you drink coffee or tea and give you a packet of fresh ground coffee from Portland Roasting Coffee and/or loose leaf tea by Steven Smith Teamaker. I don’t drink coffee without flavored creamer, so I didn’t end up using the coffee.

The patio area is perfect for standing out on and looking through the complimentary binoculars that are in the room. Might not see anything right now, but perhaps the summertime is better suited to spot grey whales, dolphins, seals, etc.

a lovely day to be at the beach

If you’re coming to Newport, Oregon and haven’t had a chance to stay at Inn at Nye Beach, I highly recommend checking them out if you want pleasant ocean views. Our stay was magnificent. Everything was clean & comfortable and the views were beautiful. There’s a reason they have an excellent rating on TripAdvisor.

Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie Recipe

Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie Recipe

We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or you should! Lately though, I have been cutting back on having fatty breakfast meals (sigh, bacon how I love you) and replacing them with Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothies or Peanut Butter/Banana, whatever suits my fancy that morning. It’s quick and easy and it’s helping me work towards losing that little bit of weight I have gained back over the past year after stopping Nutrisystem. I stayed at the same weight for over a year until recently. Not sure what it is now, but it’s annoying me, so I’m trying to get it off now before it tries to live here permanently!

Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie Recipe:

What you’ll need

  • 1 Banana
  • 6 Strawberries (more if you desire more of a strawberry taste). I get the large bag of frozen strawberries at Costco. It’s lasted me quite a bit and they taste just as good as they do fresh.
  • A scoop of vanilla or strawberry flavored protein powder. If you get the packaged protein powders that you can find just about anywhere, they have a scooper inside of them. Use the full scoop. I actually still have some of my Nutrisystem protein shake powders left so I’ve been using those until I run out.
  • 1/2 cup of nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt, or any flavor you prefer. I have purchased plain Greek yogurt before and it’s the nastiest stuff ever and may throw the entire shake off, so that’s why I stick with vanilla or honey flavors.
  • 1/2 cup of soy milk. Add more if not blending well or for your desired consistency.

This recipe is quick and simple, so there should be no excuses for skipping breakfast!

Enjoy.

Best Buy: Where you Can Catch It All Now!

Best Buy: Where you Can Catch It All Now!

Some of you may be big fans of the current NCAA March Madness games that have been going on as of late. I know when we’re watching NFL, we always have the laptop open, my tablet on, sometimes even our phones so we can stay up to date on other games to see where everyone stands. There’s always multiple games on at the same time and this makes it easy for us to catch it all so we don’t miss a thing! I’m just glad we live in a world where we’re so technologically advanced. Back in the day, we had 1 bulky TV and we could only watch 1 program. How did we survive? LOL I have no clue!

CatchItAll_Twitter_Image_Post

Best Buy makes it easy for you to catch it all now with their smart HDTVs, cellphones, tablets, laptops and more! Head over to their website and check out how you can stay connected with multi-screen madness.

The one device that I cannot go without is probably my tablet. I usually have this near me at all times, especially if I am downstairs watching TV, that way I can stay connected with family, friends, and my blog. It’s less bulky than my laptop and it works fast and efficiently. Except when I need to type up a blog post, then I switch to the laptop. But if I am just replying to a comment or concern, then tablet it is! My family and friends know I probably won’t answer my cell phone since I hate typing on the small screen with the tiny buttons and actually talking on it. I definitely need to start liking the phone more, but maybe once I upgrade from my dinosaur to a smart phone, I’ll enjoy it a bit more. But until then, my tablet is my go to for most of my needs.

What is your go to device to stay connected?
