Do you consider yourself a “professional” blogger? Why or why not? What does that mean to you?
No, because to me, a professional blogger is someone who does this for a living and not as a hobby or for personal reasons. Don’t get me wrong, I do get the occasional sponsored posts for A Dose of Jenn, but rarely are they ever frequent.
I think if I took it more seriously and actually brushed up on some SEO skills, social and email marketing, I might have a chance to become a professional blogger, but right now, I like having a stress-free day of no deadlines and the headache of coming up with unique content that no one else posts about, which is limited I might add since there are hundreds of thousands of bloggers out, most with similar niches as others.
I did take the step of moving over to self-hosted WordPress last March so companies, other bloggers and readers would take me more seriously, but I am kind of regretting that decision after getting an email about my new yearly fee of $137 after I only paid $12 for the 1st year. My frugal ass almost crapped her pants.
Being a professional blogger takes time, effort and lots of brainstorming in order to be successful, that of which I won’t have in the next 5 months.
In the end, I want to look professional, but in reality I am not there yet.
