The Best Pumpkin Patches in Portland, OR (and surrounding areas)

The Best Pumpkin Patches in Portland, OR (and surrounding areas)

It’s almost that time of year AGAIN. I know I say this all of the time, but where does the time go? UGH! I wished it would slow down a little bit.

My daughter and I have already begun our pumpkin season by starting off with a pumpkin pie blizzard from Dairy Queen; yum!  We love this time of year since there’s such fun activities to do and plenty of places to visit local to us. We had planned this year to grab pumpkins from the pumpkin patch to decorate into the light fury from How to Train Your Dragon 3 and we ended up doing just that! It was hard picking one place to visit, but we decided on Sauvie’s Island in Portland, OR since I hadn’t been since I was like in my late teens I think. The place is pretty busy on the weekends so I recommend going on a weekday because we sat in a 15-20 min line less than a mile from the farm just to get in the parking lot. Then it was the same as we left. It was kind of crazy! The kids had fun with the animals and stuff so it was worth it.

 Joe’s Place Farms

Another great pumpkin patch where admission is free. The only thing they charge for as far as activities go is the hay ride and fort maze which are $2 per person each. Pumpkin patch opens September 26th – October 31st! The hay rides are only at certain times, so check ahead before heading out to Joe’s Place Farms!

The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island

Address: 16511 NW Gillihan Rd, Portland, OR 97231

I remember going to Sauvie Island as a little girl to pick out pumpkins a couple times with my grandma. Now it has changed so much. Admission is free, but you do need to pay for pumpkins (different fee per size) and there is a price for doing THE MAIZE. I haven’t done it but it seems huge and super fun!

It’s like a county fair out here! A bountiful produce market full of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as pumpkin carving kits, fall decor (cornstalks, gourds, hay bales, and Indian corn), and other goodies. The cafe is open daily and serves hot buttered corn, hot drinks, and Pulled Pork sandwiches on Saturdays and Sundays. The Pumpkin Cottage Gift shop is open daily with “pumpkin” goodies, specialty gifts, Fall decorations and Thanksgiving holiday items galore!
FREE ACTIVITIES include the animal barn, the giant hay maze, the giant hay pyramid and the daily hayrides to the U-Pick Pumpkin fields.
If weather permits look for The Cow Train.

Roloff Farm

Address: 23985 NW Grossen Dr, Hillsboro, OR 97124

I never knew about this one, but apparently, the stars of Little People Big World have lived and ran this farm since 1990. This has kind of become a tourist attraction since Matt Roloff built some fun activities and stuff for his children on the farm to grow up with. Now that the kids are grown, they allow others to do these activities at a fee. You’ll have to check out their website for all of the neat stuff they have to offer for the kiddos.

Those are the 4 best ones that come to mind in the area. If you know of any other ones that you and your family have enjoyed, be sure to leave a comment.
